
Auditions for the 2011-2012 Season
The Orange County Choral Society, under the direction of Christopher Gravis, will audition prospective singers June 29th, 2011 from 6-9 pm at St. Wilfrid of York Episcopal Church, 18631 Chapel Lane, Huntington Beach. Season highlights for the 2011-2012 season include works by Lauridsen, Respighi, Whitacre, Finzi, and Bernstein!

FREQUENTLY ASKED AUDITION QUESTIONS
Q. What are you looking for in an audition?
A. The purpose of the audition is to evaluate the musicianship of the singer. We look for singers who have a strong ear, can read music independently, and who sing expressively. Successful candidates will have a strong sense of rhythm and intervallic sight reading skills.
Q. What do I have to do in the audition?
A. You will sing an aria, art song, or other suitable piece of solo vocal repertoire of your choosing. An accompanist will be provided, so please bring an extra copy of your music. Additionally, you will be asked articulate rhythms, and sight read your voice part in a piece of music.
Q. What do I need to bring to my audition?
A. A completed Choral Audition Form, and 2 copies of your solo song.
Q. Who will hear me audition?
A. Auditions are heard by the artistic director, the accompanist, and sometimes other artistic staff.
Q. When will I know if I am accepted or not?
A. Singers will be notified by mail within 30 days of their audition.
Q. When and where are rehearsals?
A. Rehearsals are held Tuesday nights from 7:15 to 10:00 pm at:

A. No.
Q. If accepted, will I have to audition every year?
A. In an effort to make the OCCS one of the finest choral organizations in the country, all singers are re-auditioned every two years.
